Vocal / Competition

General Information

The competition will be held from 18th to 22nd of August 2017 at the Kazakh National University of Arts address: 50 Tauelsyzdyk Ave, Astana, Kazakhstan.

Auditions will be held in the following categories:

I Category – under 18 years (inclusive).

The competition programme must include the composer's works of the the Baroque and one of any Aria. 
The total time of the program should not exceed 10 min.*

II Category – from 19 to 35 years (inclusive).

Round 1 – the competitor must perform one work by a Baroque or Classicism, one work of an author of the country party,  compulsory work of A. Shor and one Aria chosen by the candidate.
The total time of the program should not exceed 15 min.*

Round 2 – with orchestra. One or two arias from the list.

For Soprano:

To the second round will select 10 contestants.

Auditions will be broadcast online on the Youtube channel. The assessment of each jury member for each participant can be seen on our website.*The jury has the right to stop the competitor in case of exceeded time limit of auditions. All compositions must be played from memory.

Jury

Lyubov Kazarnovskaya

Being a "star" in Russia since 1989, the young singer began her international career by making her debut at the Salzburg Summer Festival to where she was invited by Herbert von Karajan, Kazarnovskaya performed "Requiem" by Verdi under the direction of Riccardo Muti. This performance marked the beginning of her meteoric career, which later led her to opera houses such as the Covent Garden, Metropolitan Opera, Lyrik Chicago, Teatro Colon, Wiener Staatsoper, San Francisco Opera, La Scala.

Constantine Orbelian

Born in San Francisco to Russian and Armenian emigré parents, Constantine Orbelian made his debut as a piano prodigy with the San Francisco Symphony at the age of 11. After graduating from Juilliard in New York, he embarked on a career as a concert pianist appearing with major symphony orchestras throughout the U.S., U.K., Europe, and Russia. His recording of the Khachaturian piano concerto with conductor Neeme Järvi won “Best Concerto Recording of the Year” award in the United Kingdom.

Shakhimardan Abilov

Shakhimardan Abilov is a laureate of the State Reward in Kazakhstan and the Honored Artist of the Republic of Kazakhstan. He is also a soloist at the State Academic Theater of Opera and Ballet named after Abai, professor at the National Academy of Music named after Kurmangazi. Academician at the International Academy of Arts, Holder of the ”Kurmet” order, the “Slava” order by the International Academy of Arts in Moscow, Honored Citizen in the Pavlodar region.

Metin Turan

Artistic Director and solist at the Ankara State Opera and Ballet. Tenor, Metin Turan sang leading roles in many opera, operette, oratorio such as: Das Land des Lächelns (The Land of Smiles), Ağrı Dağı Efsanesi (Gülbahar) (The Legend of Mount Ararat), Carmen, Il Trovatore, Die Entführung aus dem Serail (The Abduction from the Seraglio), Zaide, Straszny Dwor (The Haunted Manor), Turandot, Les Contess d’Hoffmann (The Tales of Hoffmann),Il Tabarro, Andrea Chénier, Aufstieg und Fall der Stadt Mahagonny (Rise and Fall of the City of Mahagonny), Der Zigeunerbaron (The Gypsy Baron), Otello, La Traviata, Van Gogh, Kerem, Nabucco, Yusuf ile Züleyha (Yusuf and Zulaikha), Tannhäuser, Cem Sultan, Rusalka, Attila. Metin Turan performances both in Turkey’s different cities and abroad (Indonesia, Malaysia, Spain, Germany, Finland, Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus and others).

Gennady Kabka

Gennady Kabka is a Docent of vocal and conducting faculty NMAU of P.I.Tchaikovsky, Ph D doctor of philosophy, the leading soloist of the Municipal Theatre of Opera and Ballet and a member of the National Union of Ukrainian music and the International Teachers Association "Art and Education of the XXI century." Gennady Kabka held master classes in Ukraine, Italy, Kazakhstan, Lithuania, Armenia, China, and others.
