Laureate of the State REward in KZ, the Honored Artist in the REpublic of Kazakhsta, Soloist at the State Academic Theatr of Opera and Ballet in the National Academy of Music after Kurmangazi , Academician at the International Academy of Arts, Holder of the “Barys” order, the ”Kurmet” order and the “Slava” order by the International Academy of Arts in Moscow, Honored Citizen in the Pavlodar region.
The name of this famous singer Shakhimardan Abilov who is brilliant at interpreting vocal lyrics is well known not only in his country but in all over the world. Today his is unique as a musician and takes a special place in the music culture in the Republic of Kasakhstan. The top of his creative activity is chamber-vocal compositions with Abay’s poems. They are accompanied by a talented pianist Sergei Kostevich. In 1991 they were recorded on the CD in Moscow. It is worth mentioning that Kazakhstan composers E.Rahkmadiev, T Muhkamedzhanov, M. Sagatov, B. Amanzholov composed their music works with Abay’s poems specially for Abilov’s singing.
Shakhmardan Abilov is able to combine quite successfully both his vocal career and teachers’ activity. From 1990 to 1997 he worked as Dean at the vocal-chorus faculty and since then he has an honorary title of Head of Vocal Department at the National Academy after Kurmangazi. He educated over forty students and twenty postgraduates, twenty five of them are prize-winners in different international contests: M. Chobataev is the prize-winner at the 23 Contest after M. Glinka in Moscow; T Musabaev is the prize-winner at the 20 Contest after M. Glinka in Arkhangelsk; Zh. Gabdullina, E. Sakavov, E. Shagarov, K.Basarbaeva are also prize-winners. Ten other students of his got the title of the Honored Artist in KZ.
Sh. Abilov is a public figure, he is also the jury member at the international vocal contest such as “Art of the 21 Century” in Finland), Italy, Sweden, Austria, “Amber Hightingale” in Kaliningrad (Russia), “International Russian Romanciada” in Moscow, Chamber Singers Contest after R. Yakhin in Kazan, International Contest after S. Ismagilov in Ufa, Opera Singers Contest in Kiev, the International Contest –Festival in Armenia named “Revival”. He arranges master-classes and solo concerts in Kazakhstan, in the cities of the CIS and abroad.
Since 2003 he has been arranging international festivals of opera and ballet art named “Shakhimardan welcomes his friends” in Pavlodar. In 2011 he opened his Academy of Vocal Skills (“Protection of Children’s Voices”), in Pavlodar special school, music college .Since 2013 he has been organizing annual regions “Shakhimardan Abilov” Prize Festival for Children in Pavlodar.
His international recognition was his concert in London on the stage together with the King’s Chamber orchestra in Barbican Hall. As a BBC correspondent commented: “ To have a concert in the center of London City in the church of the 11th century for the audience that is used to listening to the most famous celebrities….this is the event that has no match for it .”
